1. NSS, AASS, CASS Definition:
1.1 NSS: Neutral Salt Spray, it is a neutral test which means the test solution pH value is at 6.5-7.2.
1.2 AASS: Acetic Acid Salt Spray ,is the method in NSS solution with addition of glacial acetic acid in the pH range of 3.1 to 3.3.
1.3 CASS: Copper Accelerated Acetic Acid Salt Spray, is the method in AASS solution with addition of copper chloride in the pH range of 3.1 to 3.3.
2. How to choose salt corrosion test?
It is mainly based on the material and coating of your specimens.
2.1 Neutral Salt Spray test (NSS) is applied to metals and their alloys, metal coatings (anodes and cathodes), conversion coatings, anodic oxidation coatings, and organic coatings on metal materials.
2.2 Acetic Acid Salt Spray test (AASS) is used for testing decorative coatings of copper + nickel + chromium, or nickel + chromium; also used for testing anodic coatings on aluminum.
2.3 Copper Accelerated Salt Spray test (CASS) is used for testing decorative coatings of copper + nickel + chromium, or nickel + chromium; also used for testing anodic coatings on aluminum.
